Fire Mountain Trails

Location: Cherokee, North Carolina

Date: 2016

Services: Master Planning, Schematic Design, Design Development & CD's

Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina and adjacent to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Cherokee is primed to become an outdoor tourist destination.  In an effort to attract these visitors, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians commissioned CSLA to plan and design a trail system that can be used for hiking and mountain biking.

The project is in close proximity to downtown Cherokee, ensuring easy connectivity from different parts of town.  Along with others, ZCLA teamed up with trails specialist, Valerie Naylor to offer her expertise to the project. The entire property was traversed, all possible routes explored, then the best routes for different trail difficulty levels was flagged and GPS coordinates marked. After months of planning, design, community meetings and GPS tracking, the completed the design and planning packet for the tribe.

The trails were constructed by Trail Dynamics, out of Brevard, NC.  They opened in June of 2017 and have been a MASSIVE addition attracting riders from all over the United States!
