Featured Project
Bryson City Fry St. Plaza
Location: Bryson City, North Carolina
Date: 2014
Services: Master Planning
Located adjacent to the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad station in Bryson City, NC, Fry Street is currently a two-way vehicular roadway and parking area. The surface of the road and parking areas are in disrepair, while also being very hazardous to pedestrians walking throughout the area.
The Swain County Tourism Development Association, with support from the Railroad, local business owners and citizens, felt it would be more beneficial if the area was converted into a vehicular free plaza. The new plaza would serve as a transitional space between parking areas, local businesses, railroad and provide safe access throughout for pedestrians. The new plaza would also be utilized for outdoor events such as festivals, special events, and new seating areas.
